SAVE THE DATE for the 6th Annual Community Breakfast--October 26, 2010

 The 5th Annual Community Breakfast was held on October 27th at the Majestic Theatre in Zona Rosa.  It was a time when we bring our school, corporate and parent communities together to honor the accomplishments of the Park Hill Education Foundation and the Park Hill School District.  Dr. Dennis Fisher, superintendent, announced the the district received the Missouri Quality Award!  Park Hill Schoold District is the first school district in the state to achieve this accomplishment. 

Guests enjoyed fabulous food, fun friends, and a great movie while they supported our schools, our children and our community. The Park Hill School District Education Foundation held our 12th annual Night with the Stars on March 31, 2010, at the AMC BarryWoods Theatre. Attendees enjoyed a fun filled evening of conversation, appetizers, and a first run movie at this wonderful benefit event. We celebrated our stars by recognizing Classroom Grant and Scholarship recipients.

The Major Saver Fundraiser is a fundraiser for the Foundation, as well as, individual schools. By purchasing a $10 Major Saver gift card not only will you receive the benefit of a discount card, but you will endorse the work of the Foundation. Fifteen area restaurants or businesses participate in this wonderful program. Since this fundraiser was instituted in 1998, Major Saver has returned more than $123,000 to the Foundation. Examples of how the funds are being used in the schools include: purchasing books for the library, conducting an Anti-Bullying workshop and assembly, and providing transportation for after school programs.

The 2010 Major Saver Fundraiser Campaign will begin January 8th.

The Park Hill National Education Association partnered with Barnes & Noble at Zona Rosa to celebrate its 6th Annual Read Across America on March 4, 2010. The event celebrated literacy and honored children’s author, Dr. Seuss. Barnes& Noble donated a percentage of the sales for the day. Park Hill National Education Association will donate all the proceeds to the Park Hill Education Foundation to fund the Teacher of the Year Classroom Grant.

A logo contest for the promotional flyer was held at the elementary schools. The winner was recognized at this event and received a gift certificate from Barnes & Noble. The logo was printed on the cakes which were served.

Cat in the Hat, Thing One and Thing Two were there. Students from our schools performed and there were various activities throughout the bookstore.
